1st automatic driving lesson...so easy!!! | ADHD Information

Hey, sorry if I keep going on about driving. I am so frustrated though. I just cannot seem to concentrate.

Anyway I did my first Automatic driving lesson and it was so much better, I actually got to focus on the road!! I have a manual car, which is a pain. I think I will sell it (once getting to stratch sorted) and buy an automatic.

People keep saying...oh but you will never be able to drive manual if you do auto! So what??? At least I will be safer on the road. So do you guys think i should do the AUTO or stick to the manual? x Thank you for all your support.

AUTO.    glad it went well.... Why change, when you are soo good in the Auto... Well Done to u..Take a Bow..Glad to hear that driving is going so well.  If you are more comfortable with the automatic, I would stick with it!Stick with what works!! Glad you tried it and had a well-deserved success!

Good for you, Sarah. I've always driven automatics! My DH said "a stick is cheaper and more fun to drive". I think a stick should more expensive b/c their a pain in the ass...sheesh! The shifting, the clutch and paying attention to whats going on around you, no thanks.

I was lucky enough that driving really wasn't hard for me, I have never attempted to drive a stick and never plan to. Now that you've found your perfect match, the rest will come(no pun entended) AUTOMATICALLY!

Glad it's going well with your driving.  I drove stick shift for years but finally got an automatic.  My H has a stick shift so I get to use both which is good, but I like my Automatic.  If that's what you really like and the price is right, go for it.   Dee

Thanks everyone. I feel like people understand me a lot more on this forum than anyone I know.

I will stick with it and just tell everyone that I have decided to go AUTO. I cannot be arsed to keep explaining my actions to people!!!

Well!!! You said it Sarah!! You have no need to feel the need to justify your choice.. that is what you as an independent adult person have decided.

I only like a stick shift on a high-performance vehicle.

I don't mind them in general though, seems you don't even think about it after getting really used to the shifting.

I did have a work truck once that was hard to shift and the cklutch was hard to press down which was a royal pain.

But go with what you like.

I use to agree with TR! I always owned and preferred manual (stick) because when it wouldn't start, you could jump start it by rolling down an incline and popping the clutch. Also saves on brakes by down shifting, and is fun (and at one time you'd get better gas mileage, although I'm not sure that still applies). HOWEVER, with traffic the way it is these days most places , I've become a believer in automatics. Time I gave my left foot a rest, kwim?
Personally, I despise automatic transmissions. They upshift way too soon, take forever to downshift, are less controllable in bad weather, and can be downright dangerous in certain conditions (i.e. if a powerful RWD car downshifts while getting on the gas during hard cornering). Plus they're too boring-- a stickshift gives me something to do, and it keeps me focused on driving. With a slushbox I always end up messing with the radio, playing with any available gadgets, daydreaming, etc. instead.

However, the best transmission for you is the one you happen to prefer. It's your car, and there's no need to justify your tastes to anybody else. Drive whatever you like. :)
