Yesterday, dr put my dd on thioridazine / thiorette here, I think its Mellaril in US/.
Does any of you knows anything about this med? Wonna to know something about before I gave it to dd in saturday morning.
Thanks.
This is an older anti-psychotic medication, like Thorazine. Who diagnosed your child (what sort of doctor) and why would he want him on an older anti-psychotic? An anti-psychotic is not for ADHD. Does he have hallucinations? Temper fits? I'm thinking I wouldn't give this to a child without a good second opinion from a Child Psychiatrist (with the MD). I didn't know that was still prescribed. A friend of mine took it once, before Risperdal and the other antipsychotics were around, and she told me she felt like a zombie and quit taking it. But SHE had a serious mood disorder. Child Psychiatrist (with the MD) prescribed her this med. And she has no halucination or other stuff, "JUST" the school example of ADHD.Yikes! I've never heard of this being prescribed for ADHD.
Do you have Ritalin in Bosnia?
thorasine is Chlorpromazine, but thioridazine indegrient is clorhidrat of tioridazin. I dont think thats same drug, but maybe Im wrong? No. Melliril is SIMILAR to Thorazine and it's definitely not prescribed for ADHD. It's rarely prescribed at all for anything in the US. It's an older antipsychotic. I think I spelled it wrong, but I know the med you're talking about. OlderMom38847.2818981481LILIAN:

Probably, should I request it? When its about meds for ADHD I feel like Im from Mars.
Yes, Ritalin is for ADHD, and I asked if you had that one because it's the oldest, most reliable, most tested drug out there for ADHD. I would try it first.
