QEEG and Bio Feedback Training | ADHD Information

Share
We are considering having QEEG done with the expectation that we would progress to biofeedback training from there. Unfort.  our health insurance covers neither.  Anyone here who has had a child do biofeedback training?  We would appreciate any insights as to how helpful this method has been.  Our daughter is 9 yrs old ADHD and currently does a combo of thearpy and meds.  Thanks. My son is getting Q biofeedback (AKA neurofeedback) for a couple of mos now. He's had 17 sessions. I have read only great things about this. My son has bad reactions to meds and so I'm really hoping this helps. They need an average of 40-50 sessions and you don't start to see results until they've had 20+ sessions. His therapist does something called brain mapping every 10 sessions to see if there's improvement in his brain waves ans I saw the results myself. Definite decrease in his theta (relaxation) waves. Unfortunaely, it hasn't translated into the classroom yet, but that's expected. My son is 8, but I also have a friend whose son is 15 and he's doing it also. He started at the same time as my son. Another mom on the forum said it worked great for her son and I met a woman the other day whose son did it and he went from C's and D's to A's. My son is very strong academically, so I have high hopes. I also read about it in 2 different books on parenting kids with ADHD, and both had very complimentary things to say.  We won't start to see results for another month or so. I'll try to keep you posted. BTW, my insurance doesn't cover it either, but if it helps my son, I'd sell my soul. Good luck.
