Forgetful or am I a friggin idiot? | ADHD Information

CG - that's a so common story! We plot and plan but we tend to hyperfocus on the parts that we enjoy doing or just manage to get straight. The rest tends to get almost blinded by our ADHD. It's almost as if we have only so much focus and once it's used up we create a waterbreak so as to not lose what we have managed.

I still can do that if I don't go over things a couple of times. It sucks I know.

All family and I guess they should know me. Last Christmas I had a party and was so involved in party planning I forgot to buy gifts. Ended up running to the grocery store at the last minute to buy candy bars for the kids.

Dang! I have planned this huge party for Mother's Day with my daughter since Easter. We have the place, I planned the menu - everything is set; or so I thought. I stopped by my parents house to check on them today and my mom says. "Ann asked me what I was doing for Mother's Day and I told her I was probably going to sit hom on the edge of my bed by myself' I'm like "What? You're not coming to the party?" ; She says "What party? I haven't heard of any parties. Your sister is going to her kids house...."

I forgot to invite the guests! Dang! I'm having a Huge Mother's Day Bash and forgot to invite my mother! Now I'm not sure what's gonna happen. Oh, well, I planned a party so I'm gonna party. I hope someone shows up.

People always come when the food is free and they don't have to cook! I'm sure it will be fine. Some of my best parties have been the ones I thought were screwed up! The ones I thought would be the best bombed!

You know you're NOT a friggin idiot! It's the ADHD, believe me...and what Glen said.

About a year ago, during finals week, I was so caught up in making sure I got A's in all of my classes that I didn't shower for at least 3 days, didn't cook or prepare any dinner for my kids and hubby, didn't do laundry, clean, etc...

I never saw the disarray at home or my appearance at all until my last classes were over on the last day of school. And then I thought, "what happened here?", and, "Man I look ugly and greasy>!"

Just tell everyone ASAP. If it's mostly family I think they'll go to the party?

WELL AT LEAST YOUR MOTHER IS NOT DOING ANYTHING IF SHE SAID SHE WAS JUST GOING TO SIT BY THE BED.
