After reading a number of the posts on this board, I'm happy to know that I am not the only one suffering with a child who has ADHD.
Well here's my story - my oldest son was diagnosed at age 5. Yes I medicated him because I thought it was the right thing to do. But Ritalin keep him doppy. We've been through a host of other medications to try and get his behavior under control but nothing is still not working. At the same time, he's become a realy nusance at school, no one wants to be his friend because he is so disruptive. He doesn't adhere to authority figures including me. I've tried therapy, I 've tried structured schedules and routines at home and the last straw, which isn't working, I sent him to his father in Las Vegas.
Honestly, I don't want anything bad to happen to him. I fear that he will get mixed up in the wrong crowd or do something crazy and hurt himself or someone else. I don't know what to do. He's coming home for the Summer to go to camp and spend time with me and his brother. His dad isn't sure if having him to come back and stay with him is a good idea because the schools don't want to tolerate his behavior. WHAT AM I TO DO? Every year seems to be worst that the last.
The last time he was home with me I had to call the police because he was acting out so bad I thought he was going to hurt someone. Most programs are too costly for me to pay for or he doesn't fit ALL the criteria (he's too young, he's too old, doesn't live in the right area, too far, and on and on and on

I live in MD. The school system here can't help because he isn't classified as having a disability (unfortunately all of his faculites are in working order) and he can maintain a C average. Are there any programs for kids like these?
I'm not sure I'll be able to handle him if he is as disruptive and and unruly as his father mentions. What can I do for him?
All ideas and suggestions welcomed.
