Looking for assistance to help a child who can not get to sleep due to ADHD medications. Is anything safe? Have you heard of zolkids? www.zolkids.com
If so, please let me know if you have any information.
Thank you in advance!
bumping up so someone can read thisYou ever try Melatonin? You can get it at health food stores. Check with your doctor first, but it works. Gabba works too. Ds uses GabbaCalm once in awhile. My daughter is taking Clonidine it seems to be working unless she wakes up around 3 then she will not go back to sleep. She had problems with sleeping even before we knew she had ADHD. My daughter has always had problems sleeping, even before meds. We give her melatonin, or sometimes benadryl. My daughter we can put to bed by 8:30 pm-9pm and she will still be up reading in bed until 11pm some nights. She gets the reading from me, I read a 300-500 page book within a week and a half, before being a mom 1 week tops.Complex carb and protein dinners work for us here. This can also effected by a hyperactive thyroid as well. When our thyroid med or level is to high we are awake later. My whole family our night owls. Sleepytime tea works also. I sweeten with honey.
Antihistamines can make a child more hyper so beware and not uncommon. Happens with our son. This why we avoid them with him. Excitabilty is a side effect.
