adderall /daughter in a bad mood | ADHD Information
My son could not take Adderall...... wonderful for his ADHD symptoms, but horrible for his moods. Very, very aggressive and mean. Not the drug for us. If your daughter has been on it since September she has had time to adjust...maybe you should consider trying something else. If you try another stim and get the same results the problem may be something besides ADHD. Are her rx's prescribed by her ped? If you don't find something that works you may want to consider taking her to a psychiatrist. Good Luck!Mom, there are other stims though. It's certainly up to each parent, but I didn't like the affect Adderrall had on my son so I pulled him off of it. There are other options. But, of couse, it's entirely up to the parent and how much the parent can stand. Many kids who start out bad on Adderrall actually find they continue to get worse. It's potent. she been on them since december
my 10 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with adhd and is on adderall 20 xr mg in am and 10 mg in pm she is extremely irritable and mean. she is fine while in school, but when we are home, all hell breaks loose. she says that she wants to die and that she wants to go to a foster home. the pediatrician says that its behavorial, but i think that most of it's from the meds. we are seeing a counsellor and things have gotten worse instead of better. i'm at my wit's end.what should we do?
at around 6:30 pm she settels down and is a sweet heart...i think its the adderall that is making her mean..

Adderrall doesn't need time to get into the blood stream. It's fast in/fast out. If it were me, I wouldn't keep him on that med. I'd try another and also make sure ADHD is what he really has. I did pull him off the Adderrall when he started crying over everything and getting aggressive with our dogs. Upon removal, he went back to his normal self.
MAY I ASK WHY SHE IS ON AN XR FORMULA 2X A DAY? MY SON IS ON ADDERALL XR 25mg 1X @AM, HE HAS SEVERE ADHD IS SEVEN AND HE WEIGHS APPROX. 70 lbs.
