GO TO SLEEP

my 11 year old will NOT go to sleep.  adhd or is it his meds.  i have no idea but am going mad.  the only help i've seen online was a study for exactly this problem (www.zolkids.com).  i need SOMETHING.  if he gets 3 hours, i get 2 and my day is shot.  HELP.

We have done everything to make our daughter sleep. We've decided that as long as she stays in her room then she can do whatever she wants as long as it's quite.

This has been the only thing that let us get some sleep and she's starting to get into bed on her own now and fall asleep when she get bored playing.

Well look at me.... 4 a.m. and still tickin'.............EST.... Hi, Peita!

I get off work at 2:30 a.m.- Which is why I miss prime time in here....

OUR NIGHTLY SCHEDULE: DINNER THEN WARM SHOWERS. CLASSICAL MUSIC HELPS A LOT ALSO. LAVENDAR OIL SCENTED STUFF IN ROOM RELAXES ALSO. i ALSO USE IN HIS CLASSROOM. GIVE TO THE STAFF.

I have the same problem.  mine just won't stay in the bloody room *sigh* . so we just decided that if he comes out of the room he gets in trouble and has to go to bed early the next night.  But as long as he stays in his room and his bed he can stay up.  i catch myself getting up at all hours of the night to check and make sure he is still in his room.

I have heard that white noise will help some with ADD sleep better.  Also, putting heavy blankets over the legs will help them sleep.

You could try the exercises in the book Stopping ADHD by O'Dell and Cook.  It has helped my ADD symptoms very much.

Have any of you tried Melatonin? My son has been taking it for about a year now.... he now takes 3mg. ea. night (an hour or so before bed time). You can always start off with 1mg. and it can be purchased at GNC. Our Neurologist recommended it..... it's about the only thing he helped with, but it WAS a biggy! Good luck! [QUOTE=Peita Pan]

Lavender oils & scent makes my adhd & normal children go completly barmy, very much the opposite of calming them down.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS??I use 1 mg of chewable melatonin. Works great. I heard that weighted blankets also work. How about complex carb/ protein dinners only? This helps here also.

We use melatonin also. We started with 1 mg and now we use 3. That has worked great for us.
