A year ago I began a low fat diet with daily fish oil and flax seed oil supplements in an effort to lower my cholesterol. I already was exercising regularly. Over the past year, my cholesterol has dropped significantly, and I believe the fish and flax oils helped.
What about effects on ADD? Well, I was only diagnosed two weeks ago with ADD inattentive type. You might say I've been a "blind test" on the effects of fish oil on ADD symptoms. I'm afraid I can't tell you anything definitively, since I was monitoring effects on cholesterol, not memory, procrastination, interrupting others, etc.. But I can tell you this difinitively: something changed in my brain over the past year...slight as it might be-- improved perception, observation, attention...and I think the fish oil was a factor. How do I know? I've lived with ADD all my life and didn't put it all together until a month ago that I had the disorder and sought help. So as far as I'm concerned, fish oil is good for my cholesterol and my brain, and that's good enough for me!
My daughter and I are INATTENTIVE and this is something I am also interested in. I found some information at the following website. Still in the process of reading it myself. Thought it might help some. Dee
Ive gone to the other page on the forum in regards to herbal and complimentary things for ADHD, no luck, The posts ive read have to do with kids and i dont knwo if the same applies to adults, yes, im repeating myself, im ADD INATTENTIVE and i am wondering how any of you feel about Omega 3 and or fish oil supplements? Im, yes repeating again, on Adderall, 30 mg twoce a day, but as far as focus and keeping myself "interested" on any number of things, i thought that this fish oil could help, any advice?

I haven't done much research on the Omega supplements but there is info on this board about that.
I have started to take fish oil, flax seed oil and primrose oil. Haven't notice much yet.
But I have faith that they will help my overall health.
Remember what they said about fish being brain food.
It is definitely worth researching. Check out the natural remedies on this board.
