Hi, I've been on Adderall for about 2 1/2 years now and everything is working out great with it. I'm a petite lady naturally, never been over 109 lb in my life, usually averaging around 105 but for 5'1" that's healthy. Since on Adderall I've held a consistent weight of 98 lb., which I know for me and my eating behaviors is normal, if I'm sick or stressed (which typically affects my apetite) it goes down a bit but comes back up to 98. So my annoyance is, and I know for some women out there this is going to sound crazy, but I want to gain weight! Just a little, I'm tired of being skinny. I'd like to try and put on some muscle. Is it even possible on adderall? I'm thinking if I watch my calorie intake and drink ensure plus and make sure that my calorie intake is significantly higher then maybe I can at least get back up to 100ish. Has anyone else out there felt this way?
P.S. I heard some people on Adderall XR actually eat more and gain weight, does anyone know how often this occurs for people on the XR?
dret38857.6603009259When you already have a naturally high or overactive metabolism then gaining weight or even keeping it on when using stimulant meds is very difficult. It's not impossible though.
Many here I've talked to have had great luck with protein shakes and weightlifter supplements (full of vegetable oil and other filler that is high in calories). Eating smaller meals throughout the day with a focus on increasing calories (while not going to high cholesterol of course) is another part. Most local clinics and hospitals have licensed dieticians that are pros in food intake - I'd recommend a visit to one too.
Many gain (I fluctuate) because they become accustomed to the amphetamine effect and eventually it goes away. Also when you are happier (or for some of course the opposite) eating habits change so it can vary a lot.
