"Slowness" from medication? | ADHD Information

Share

I only recently figured out that I had ADHD, and it was a complete epiphany to me when I made the realization.  Hearing the list of symptoms for the disorder sounded like my personal biography.

I started off taking Ritalin and had a litany of unbearable side effects.  The worst was how incredibly irritable I was while coming down from a dose.  I also experienced this weird "slowness" -- my typing ability was decreased, I felt like it was a little tougher to focus my eyes on things... honestly, I felt stoned.  It wasn't a terrible feeling... I still had plenty of motivation, but just felt very slow.

I've switched to Strattera, and am nearing the end of my first week on it.  Today's the first day I've really noticed it working, and it feels very similar to a small Ritalin dose.  I do have the slowness, but not nearly as bad as it got with Ritalin.  On the plus side, I feel very calm, and have been really productive this morning.  Just wondering -- has anyone else experienced this slowness side effect?  Does it go away eventually?  Thanks for any responses...
