Dose any one have any inframation on Therapy dogs? I am currently looking in to getting one for my son.
i havn't but i have noticed my ADHD son is very in tune with dogs

I just scooted over to my coworker who does that. She says there is a national organization called Therapy Dogs International, and they have local information you could contact. They might to a one on one visit, or just make a playdate/companionship visit for your child. Let us know what you find out, what a great idea! By the way, this is not for Service Dogs, but therapy dogs, right?

calicorose38859.5797569444 Thanks for the reply and Yes, this is just for therapy dogs I have been reading alot about this in the last couple of days and have found out that the dogs that are used for therapy are specialy trained for your childs needs they are traind to go by the behavior of your child. I have found him one in our area and hope to gain some understanding before I jump in.
My coworker does this on a volunteer basis. She knows of one child that she is interested in taking her shepherd to go see. The child will not read to anyone, as far as learning to read, and they thought a dog might make him more comfortable to learn to read to. A very nonjudgemental, unconditional choice, I thought! I sure will continue to post and let you know what happens with this subject. I am just so happy that i have gotten a reply from this one post. I fell like there are others out thier that understand what I am willing to do for my child when it comes to his best intrest. Thanks for responding my son has ADHD and we have tried many things in the past. For the moment he is doing well but i fell he may need a little extra help in learning how to communicate with others and from what I have read Tharapy dogs provide them with the feeling that they are achiving great things. I also hope it will improve his memory.
