can’t find a NeuroPsycologist | ADHD Information

I am so frustrated. I want an evaluation for my son, and I even called the childrens hospital in our state, they only do studies, and the current one is for 16 year olds. I am so mad! Anyone have a clue on where to get one in Connecticut? He is 7, and all the ones I called don't do the neuropsych exam. Help!!STRANGE THE KID HOSPITAL -DALLAS THEIR NEUROLOGIST TOLD US IT IS ALL BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS. lOOK IN TO A BIG CHANE HOSPITAL NAME THEY ARE THERE. OUR SE DEPT IS DOING OURS. i CAN'T PAY THE FEE OF 3,000. THEY SAY IT TAKES FOR TESTING.INS. NOT COVERED.  PSYCHOLOGICAL AREA IS WHERE FOUND THESE DR.'S.

Devonboo, have you tried Yale's Child Study program in New Haven or the Institute of Living (it may have changed its name) in Hartford?  How about UConn in Farmington?  Have you asked your ped for a referral? 

BTW, I grew up in Connecticut.  If you come up dry, I'll ask around and find out for you.

Yale was the hospital I tried. They told me currently they are only doing studies on 16 year olds, and they did give me the name of one docotr, but I can't get hold of him.

I asked my ped for a referal, and the nurse seemed alot mad about me asking. She told me he never refers neuropysch, but he would be happy to email someone his records. She told me maybe yale might do it. Guess I am trying the wrong numbers.  The top link you gave me notellin was the number I called. Maybe I am getting the wrong people. I will try Hartford tomorrow.

I just got off of the phone with my sons Dr. it was suggested by my sons teacher that he have a neuro psycologist test done. Because it was suggested by the education department at his school I found out that the county that we live in has to prived him with the testing. This is protected under a law caled FATE she told me what it ment but my ADHD showed and  i frogot what she said. So I guss I will be calling in the morning to find out what the full name is. So may be you will be able to have your son tested through this same process. I hope this helped.

 

Devonboo,  I am from Connecticut and I was thinking of having my son evaluated too, he is 6.  My friend went to Dr Kulas, and he is with the Children's Hospital and in Hartford.  She loves him and highly reccommends him.  Which insurance do you have and did you check into payment yet?  I haven't gotten that far yet.  We have Connecticare.  We just switched and blue cross didn't cover it.  Good luck and let me know!

Someone gave me the Dr Kulas name as well last night. I was planning on calling this morning.

Sue, I have blue cross insurance, that would stink if it is not covered. I will keep you posted.
