what happened to dexedrine? Want me to put it down as an adderall type?

Hyper in adults is so subjective.  We tend to wear out I think by 18 LOL.

I think the two classes work on different receptors.  Not totally sure.    There is so much to ADHD - norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, seratonin.  The brain is less a computer and more a 7-11 slurpee made by a 5 year old.  Little of this, little of that - never the same place from cup to cup.  Big mix and feels like its been in a blender sometimes.

Who knows - ritalin if it had been the one offered to me first may have worked just as well.  I know I desparately wanted to make life work and that must have played a part in my very fast 180 turnaround.  Not all - I don't believe it was placebo for one second - not for over one year now.

It's trial and error at this stage for people.  Eventually it looks like they'll make a recombinant DNA milkshake when they Dx people and when you get a shot of it you'll be bad-gene free.

I was reading the paper the other day and saw they've been doing work on a genetic disorder that hits kids and is rare.  It causes blindness and lenses or surgery do no good.  They gave chickens the disorder through gene therapy then injected healthy stem-cells into the eggs the chickens laid.  They not only cured the blindness but they said the eyesight of the chickens is the best of any animal tested - EVER.  So not only can you get rid of glasses - but you can do a "six million dollar man" as well! Come one people - do the steve austin sound effect! Doop doop doop doop doop ROFL!!!

Im ADHD and take dexamphetamines. Havn't tried anything else as the dexies work well. Although sometimes I wonder if it makes my OCD behaviour a little worse when I have nothing to do. so i'm wondering now seeing as ADDers and ADHDers seem so different to me.

in general do ADDers react better on the amphetamines (adderall etc.) and ADHDers react better to the methylphenidate type (ritalin etc.)

i can't work out how to phrase it right for a poll --- i hope this makes sense???

sheesh i should have added a "no difference" or "work equally well" one aswell.  never mind.

and i can't even vote myself - because i am not on meds.  how annoying!

chjones38863.805625yeah glen - i meant to lump dex in with the amphetamine/adderall types as opposed to the methylphenidate type.

Don't be so hard on yourself Nah, he's too small.

My son was dx'd with mostly innattentive, and some hyperactivity.  Adderall was beautiful.  Y'all will get tired of me saying that, but it was.  Still miss the stuff. He also tried Concerta, and it was a no-go.

The psychologist said there really is no more label of ADD.  He said it is classified as ADHD with an appropriate subtype.  ADD is what I would call my son.  He was formerly diagnosed as ADHD -  Combined Type.

You are starting to sound like your normal bubbly self again, glad the old self is back!

thanks calicorose --- !  it's true, i feel just fine right now.  our brains are SO weird.  weird and wired.  and wild.

most of the time i am at war with mine - but tonight i feel we have a truce.  a kind of christmas football game before returning to the trenches....

Yes CG that's how it is.. At least unless it's changed recently.  It's just ADHD; three types: Hyperactive, Inattentive or Combined.

I'm Combined..also with OCD traits (anxiety).  Ritalin just continued to upset my stomach.  Welbutrin did nothing.  Straterra was just weird and  I could never get over the upset stomach it caused.

Finally after different trials the combo. of Adderall and Lexapro is what works best for me.

I'm ADD, and use adderall XR for it.  This seems to work well so far, so I've never taken anything else.  It does sometimes increase my anxiety, so I take Wellbutrin along with it.  The combination works great! For ADHD combination of Adderall and Wellbutrin (the Wellbutrin has double duty)  - among other headmeds for another disorder.i was evaluated and diagnosed at duke u. adhd center. they don't
distinguish b/w add and adhd...so i guess the question is adhd inattentive
type vs. hyperactive? what about the combo types?

I think technically it is all known as AD/HD now no matter what the type.
