Time of day to take Strattera? | ADHD Information

Sleepyness is a side effect of this med. You can take it though  before bed. I hated this drug. When he was on it he was not him at all. This drug must be used daily. This med is based on weight. Our son grew on it also. I quit it after he thru a chair into a window. Our pdoc told us to give ds his strattera at night and we didn't see any benefit.  I did some research online and it said that strattera has a 5 hour half life in the stream.  So we started giving it to him in the morning and saw improvement for school before lunch but after lunch was still bad.  We split his morning dose in half and gave the second half to him at lunch.  His focus for the afternoon was much better. 

How long have you been giving your son Strattera?  When did his doc say to dose him?  It takes som time to build up in the stream.  Our doc said maybe as long as six weeks.

To others parents giving their children Strattera, is it taken in am or pm? 

I'm considering switching from am to pm but haven't discussed with his Dr yet.

We split my sons Strattera 25 mg in the am and 40 mg at night.  My son was having trouble with being tired during the day at the dose altogether.
