Dopamine is critical to the way the brain controls our movements and is a crucial part of the basal ganglia motor loop. Shortage of dopamine, particularly the death of dopamine neurons in the nigrostriatal pathway, causes Parkinson's disease, in which a person loses the ability to execute smooth, controlled movements /MY GRANDMUM/ Disruption to the dopamine system has also been strongly linked to psychosis(Psychosis is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state in which thought and perception are severely impaired. Persons experiencing a psychotic episode may experience hallucinations, hold delusional beliefs (e.g., grandiose or paranoid delusions), demonstrate personality changes and exhibit disorganized thinking (see thought disorder) /MY MOTHER/ ADD/ADHD is likely caused by a deficiency in dopamine, a natural "feel-good" brain chemical called a neurotransmitter. Some of the dopamine that brain cells make, projects to and activates the frontal lobes. One of the most important functions of the brain’s frontal lobes is the integration of thoughts, feelings, sensory information and updated feedback about current motor activity. /MY DOUGHTER/ Why I missed simptoms of any above? Or it will catch me with time! Good points - but why under books?? In the 80s a bunch of college kids created a modified form of heroin (I assume to bypass federal law as they must classify a new molecule before it becomes illegal). It got onto the street and caused a new form of paralysis very similar to late symptoms of parkinsonism. Many got the tremors - while a great deal of them were totally paralyzed but fully aware. Turned out their modified molecules damaged the same receptors for dopamine that parkinsons does. Some of the anti-psychotics can cause paralysis in rare cases as well. Same kind of effect - it destroys receptors. It's all connected in very strong ways. Yes Dr. Minrith mentioned that on his radio show. Frontal lobe epilepsy also can cause attention issues.Our sons problem is left posterial not in the frontal area. His eeg told us this. His posterial area is slower than the rest of his brain.
His come sand goes I didnt know where to post it. Its my little research. I find it proves that something is wrong with my family genes - and there is no drug addict in my familly. I find those above interesting. So if some med helps for Parkinson s desease (like L dopa and thiorisan) would it help in severe depresion and ADHD !? Hey, To answer the above question, the jury is out but many claims exist which describe lessening of ADD/ADHD symptoms with dopamine precursors (chemicals that are later used to synthesize dopamine by the body). I've seen many claims about the effectiveness of L-Tyrosine supplements (apparently this is supposed to be superior to L-Dopa due to tyrosine crossing the blood-brain barrier more easily, or so i've read). There are others such as D/L Phenylalanine, but I don't see as clear of a link as with the L-Tyrosine. When I tried taking L-Tyrosine supplements (in the form of Mood Factors, from a local GNC), it seemed helpful for about 1 day. Then I quickly became extremely tired/lethargic and it seemed to have the opposite effect. This could be one of the other two ingredients (one was Taurine, the other I dont remember) but this is unlikely as they are much less openly effective to the body as L-Tyrosine is. Then again, many people claim that it does help them. Right now I take a multivitamin mens formula, a B-stress complex vitamin, omega 3 with EPA and DHA, and N-acetylcysteine or NAC (this one is newer, supposed to help with adderall tolerance but not sure yet, but definitely a good supplement as it is the precursor to the powerful antioxidant Glutathione). This works a bit, but seems to be extremely effective for the adderall comedowns, especially the B-vitamin and making sure to have eaten.
