Brother adhd | ADHD Information

My brother is appraoching 40 yrs old, he is unable to hold a job, likes to drink, is hyper  and has a temper.  I also must say he has a wonderful heart and is very smart .  We took him to a doctor last year and he said it was adhd and possibly bi - polar. The doctor subcsribed SEROQUEL , 25mg  for 3 days  then  50 mg 3 days  ending with 100 mg a day. My Mom said she noticed a change and says she got feedback from friends he did odd jobs with. Does anyone know about this drug, have any insight, no any alternatives. Btw he is off the drug , but I couldnt tell a difference between now and then because he was only on it for about a month and had to come off because of a financial situation. We are now able to give him help, but we want it to be the  right help.

Stephen, if you mom was getting positive feedback - that is the sort of thing to look out for.  It was working for him.  Does he feel that it helped.

If he has bi-polar - he should not have stimulants such as dexdrine etc.  With bi-polar, stimulant medication makes it worse.  He also needs to consider cutting the alcohol. - good luck with that.

It is great to see familys not giving up on their loved ones when they are 40 and still stuffing up , I appluad you.
