Vitamins and ADHD | ADHD Information
This is my first time on this message board. I need advice on vitamins/supplements used for ADHD. My son just turned 11 and we are experiencing adolescence as well as ADHD. He has been on Focalin XR 20 mg. for the last nine months. Now that it is summer, I would like to give him vitamins and other supplements instead of Focalin. My problem is that he fights me to take the vitamins. I take SHAKLEE vitamins and am giving him VitaLea (regular vitamins), B-Complex, OsteoMatrix (calcium), Vitamin C, Lecithin and Omega 3. He will not swallow the Lecithin or Omega 3. He should be taking Soy protein too but I know I won't be able to get that down him. Has anyone had any success with other vitamins or supplements? I need a quick fix - like two or 4 pills a day. I'm trying to get vitamins in his system before he begins middle school so that "maybe" we won't have to take the presciption meds. Some mood lifting vitamins would also help. Thanks! My son takes omega 3's , magnesium, and a multi vitamin...I think the people in the alternative section probably will have have more infoTry liquids that can be added into drinks. They then can just drink it down. Focus factor available at Walmart. Walmart now has a bunch of liquid supplements. A balanced diet also helps. Minimize allergie foods as much as possible. We eat the Southbeach way. This has little sugar in their stuff. caffeine helps inplace of meds for some of the people. I only give our son splenda sodas now. At home the liquid choices are milk, real juices, water. Vitamins will take a while to help it's not a quick fix.
