Completely agree with susieb...and i would also like to add that when you see mothers struggling with their child/children in stores so desparately trying to calm them down during an obvious meltdown, do not pass judgmental stares. Be considerate, maybe lend a hand?
Not rushing to judgment. Except in extreme cases (trolls) the people on this board listen, suggest but don't judge. We get enough of that everywhere else.Simply being a part of a site dedicated to sharing stories, experiences and ideas about a disorder affecting all of us here is the best part of this support group. You realize that your experiences are not unique and, therefore, that there is hope for your child in life.

Hi-
I posted yesterday, but thought I would try again. I am writing a story for a national magazine on Support Group Secrets...basically the best tip, advice or strategy that you got from a support group on just about any topic related to add/adhd. I need the tip, your name, age and sex of add child. Your last name would be great, but not necessary. Feel free to post your advice/tip here or email me at aschusteff@aol.com.

Their teachers all certainly remember their names! Thanks to all who have replied. I still need some more tips so if anyone else has anything to say, please email me at aschusteff@aol.com. I really appreciate it. And, you guys give the best advice ever and have pulled me out of alot of sucky situations...so please share!!Hi--

Hi.
Being a part of this group makes me feel like I'm not alone. Most people here experience the same pain and joy that I do with my children.
The best tip I've gotten was to let go of pretending to having "your average everyday children" and accept that they have disabilites that need to be attended to in order for them to live a "close to normal" life as possible. No need to hide them from the "public". They are fine boys who I am proud to show-off!
Huck is 9 years old, Sawyer is 6 years old (both boys). Both have ADHD, the eldest also has Tourettes Syndrome. We are yet to see what happens to the youngest who is 2 1/2.
All of us love life!

1. My biggest thing the support boards help us know we are not alone that there are others who know exactly what I am talking about, shared experiences help too.
2. I had the biggest fear of trying medications with my daughter but by talking to many who have been there and done that gave me the courage to try and now my daughter is doing so much better. Meds have really helped.
3. A place to vent out situations of stress and to gain support during these trying times.
