Mind mapping software A friend mentioned this to me earlier on as something which I might be interested in. Does anyone have any experience of using this sort of programme - does it help us, or is it more of a hindrance (something to play around with for 10 minutes, but are we really going to focus enough to get any serious benefit).Hi, Bit confused..are we talking about mind machines for training brain waves, or mind mapping for organizing tasks, taking notes etc..... If mind machines -- I've just bought a Proteus and would be interested in feedback (:-)), particularly on its use with biofeedback......and maybe also on neurofeedback...though I don't think that it's commonplace to interface a mindmachine to a neurofeedback unit..........just yet anyways....... If mindmapping -- I find that I spend too much time making a beautifully complex and rich web -- and more time worrying about not keeping it updated ... than using it to some effect...but that's just me :-) Came across freemind -- a free product from sourceforge .. that might be a cheap way into a s/ware aid to mind mapping. Actually bought a book on this subject about 15 years ago, when my boss at a pharma company showed me some of the mindmaps that he'd constructed (on paper) during lectures. So much more concise, useful and a more active process of note taking -- but I found it tricky to do in real time......might revisit it now though..... SB. PS.Mind machines linked up to audiostrobe CDs playing good music are remarkably relaxing.... and I strongly suggest trying this out on a train -- you'll get the weirdest of looks from fellow passengers ..........:-) My kids are learning about mind mapping in school - they have to read a book and then do a mind map of it - fascinating idea. |
