Metadate is a stimulant, a reformulation of Ritalin.
Rather than Ritalin, which works immediately, Metadate releases over several hours.
If you don't have luck with other stimulants, especially Ritalin and Concerta, chances are you won't have much luck with this one either. My son has been on all 3, plus Adderall and Strattera.

My DS 5yrs old has been on Metadate for 5 months it works very very well the best so far and we have tried I think pretty much every othe stim. Ritalin la, Ritalin , Focalin, Adderall, concerta, Tenex, clonidine. Every one with bad side effects or the effect of the med. was inconsistent. With Metadate Cd he takes 20mg. It lasts about 6 hours the effect. It does take about 1 1/2 hours to take effect, thats the only thing that I don't like about it, but once it kicks in then he is the most sweet well behaved boy. Since it lasts only 6 hours then sometimes when we have a long day I give him a second dose at about 1pm, he sleeps and eats very very well.
He is a very fast metabolizer and that is why medicines do not last for too long. I know other moms that say that with one dose it lasts about 8 hours.

I had to mentioned this medicine to the doctor myself after trying a few because I saw it in another board that it helped many kids , he said..OK LETS TRY IT.
Other moms say that Doctors do not prescribe this drug because sales reps....they dont push the medicine as much.

The drug is called medidate. My friends daughter was prescribed this for her ADD. She was told by the doctor that it was in the ritalin family but her daughters therapist has never heard of this drug and her daughters teachers thought it was a generic form of ritalin but when my friend asked the pharmacist if it was a generic form of ritalin she was told no. Has nyone heard of this drug or has known somebody who has taken it?Do you mean Metadate or methyl.....(I can't spell it). They are two different stimulants. yes I meant metadate i think? I just know it was prescribed to my friends daughter for her ADD
