D-AMPHETAMINEHi, I have read several similar posts from Illini on the AmenClinics ADD Forum and from Tinkinboots from the Adders.org forum. I believe that Illini is an adderall veteran, whereas Tinkinboots is a new ritalin user. I personally didn't notice any effects on social behaviour with dexedrine. Illini seems sure that the effects of Adderall on him were great wrt to focus/concentration, but not so good and as you have described, wrt to socializing. He's quite aa prolific poster -- so it might take you a little time to identify the posts that I'm referring to :-) Here's a quote: SB. sek119, I am taking Adderall XR(extended release) 15 mg just increased to 20 mg and have not had the symptoms you describe. Although i feel calmer and can stay more on task it has not affected my social ability. I do recall some other symptoms (dry mouth, jittery feeling) that only lasted for a few days then subsided. Give it a little more time, it could be that your body just needs an adjustment period. The dose could also be to high for you. If it doesn't improve in the first month I would definetley contact your doctor and see if you should decrease the dosage. Saying you are sad and not willing to smile does concern me though so if that continues contact your doctor soon. Best Wishes -Gettingagrip-I am a 24 male who has recently been diagnosed with ADD. I am taking the generic version of Adderal 20mg 3x a day. I don't know if these symptoms are normal but I seem to become withdrawn socialy when i'm on it. I become more quiet and less social. I seem to be more worried, and very sad, less willing to smile. What does this mean? I have only been taking it for about three days and I'm not sure I should continue taking it.Thanks.
I am taking the generic version of Adderal 20mg 3x a day . . . . . . .I have only been taking it for about three days and I'm not sure I should continue taking it.
Didn't you gradually move up to this dose? Your doctor started you at 60mg a day???
If the feeling isn't overtly unpleasent then giving it a couple of more days may be in order.
or I take regular release Adderall in the generic form also. The wonderful thing about regular release and the #1 reasons I never switched to the longer acting is that the dosage can be cut in half. I have been on Adderall forever and there are times I do not want the full effect so I simply cut it in half, If you are not experienced, or feel unsure then a call to the doctor may be in order. . . . .the tablet has a score (line) in the middle of it and it snaps in half without a problem. some times I have periods of bla but this has more to do with the fact some times life sucks and no one said I had to be happy about it 24/7 I know this brief feeling has nothing to do with the Adderall, because it happens independent of my taking ADD medications. The Adderall gives me more control over how I express my bla but it doesn't prevent it from happening. |
