Oh My Goodness I Am NOT Crazy | ADHD Information

I found that when I started a new job, the easiest way for me to get a handle on things was to write down what was expected and when it needed to be done. I would then use that as a referral and make a schedule which I followed as closely as possible.

Create the best schedule you can, make copies of it and use it as a checklist. Check each thing off as you complete it. That way you can see at a glance whether you are accomplishing what you should be and can get back on track. It should become a habit after a while and then it will be second nature to do that.

mkr82863 is right about following through. Don't allow yourself to start something else until you have completely finished the first one if at all possible. If a customer calls and you have to deal with them, take care of that and then go on to the original project and finish it.

When cleaning house, try to take everything you will need into the room with you so you won't need to leave for supplies. Anything that goes into another room can be put in baskets or piles until you are done, then taken to their proper place.

Hi!

I have found that making each task into a sort of ritual habit really helps.  Each task is done in a strict order.  If I get interrupted, it is much easier when I know exactly where I left off, without having to retrace each step all over again.  That being said, I really stink at customer service type jobs.  That style doesn't really work when dealing with other people.

Good luck, and welcome!

Years ago I had a problem with disorganization in my home. When I'd start to clean one room I'd find something that belonged in another room, so I'd take it in there & start cleaning that room. A counselor told me to start cleaning one room until it was finished then tackle another room. Tackle one job until it's finished then start on another.I too didn't realize back then that I have combination ADD/ADHD, & didn't find out until under a year ago. Nowadays I work on one thing at a time & when I've finished that I tackle something else.

Hey everyone,  I am so glad to find you all.  I was just diagnosed with ADHD 10 days ago.  I was definately shocked when the Psych said she thought this was the case, but after reading on this board as well as other bits and pieces of information I can find I am starting to realize that I have gone undiagnosed for a very long time.  The doctor currently have me on 20mg of Adderall 3 times daily and I am finding more and more that the "FOG" is lifting.  I still am having problems at my job I work for a call center doing Technical Support and Customer Service.  I am hoping that someone out there can tell me how to go about getting re-organized, and how to juggle the diversity of my job without getting overwhelmed.

It is good to know that I am not alone for awhile there I was starting to feel that way.  Looking forward to this Board.
