Vitamin/Nutrition success for ADHD? | ADHD Information

Has anyone here had any success with changing your child's diet or using vitamin supplements for ADHD? If so, how did you figure out what to add or eliminate from their diet? Is it worth it to see a nutritionist? I would like to try alternative methods over the summer, as I suspect when my son enters 3rd grade in the fall we will need to move forward with diagnosis and medication.

I am interested to hear others results in this area as well. I just tried to do diet modification, but it was soooooooooooooooooo hard. We are all picky eaters except for my hubby and it was next to impossible. PLus , whatever I did manage to do didn't seem to be helping. I sure this is something that would need 100% compliance?

You should look in the Natural Alternative section on this board. Some parents have had good success with this. A good place to start is the Omegas.

We met with a nutritionist.  You'd be surprised at how easy it really is, even for us picky eaters.  In some cases it is just changing how we eat rather than what we eat.  For example our nutritionist suggested that if we give our son fruit to also make sure we give him protein.  I truely feel that these minor changes have been effective.  Of course we also have him on a low dose of Foaclin xr.  He is doing wonderful.  Has been doing well since the first week we started changing our diet habits  and his taking medicine.  This isn't to say that we don't have our moments.  He in general is doing very well.  I like omegas and magnesium...my son also takes meds
