Advice Pls! Daughter’s Medication | ADHD Information

It's not taking 2 meds at once. What a doctor will occasionally prescribe is that the stimulant is taken during the day, and Strattera in the evening. You can take different meds for ADD because most do not stay in your system very long. They usually have a theraputic benefit of around 4 hrs for an instant release type and 8+/- hours for an extended release. As long as they don't overlap there isn't an issue.

I believe I requested to try that and my mom snapped at me.

I didnt know you can take 2 meds at a time?

I tried stattera, and didnt like it. I felt like I was sleepwalking the whole time.

It is done. I know that a number of adults will take a stimulant like Ritalin or Adderall during the day and Strattera in the evening. That's because there's no insomnia side-effect to Strattera.

Best of luck to you.

I've heard of people taking a stimulant and then taking an anticonvulsant, but not two seperate medications to treat the same thing.

Hello All,

My Daughter is 6 years old and has ADHD and Aspergers.

She can only go to part time school because they cannot cope with her even though she has 1-2-1.

The consultant prescribed her Srattera about 5 weeks ago after having tried Dexedrine (this didn't work very well).

She is doing well on the Strattera but the school say's she has got worse. (I got called this week to pick her up from school after only being there for 1 hour).

Her consultant saw her today and has prescribed her 5mg tablet of methylphenidate in the morning to cover her time at school, but she is still to take the 18mg capsule of Strattera in the evening.

Should I be worried about her having 2 types of tablets or is this normal

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kerry
