Some people have some of what is on your list, but that doesn't mean everyone that has two or three on the list has ADHD. People are too fast at telling someone they have it, and even more fast at saying a child has it, and trying to place the child in special ed because of it. The meds that turn them into a zombie, or making them sleep in class is even a better exuse for them to put them in there. This is not right to me. No child is perfect. People need to stop giving a kid drugs, and do their job, and stop thinking what will make their life "perfect". Funny, they preach about kids not using drugs, but are so quick to want to put them on it, if it will help them get what they want. Theydon't even care what it will do to the child, or the health of a child. I just can't have no stress in my life is what they are thinking. WAKE UP SAM !! In life, you will always have stress. Life is not perfect, YOU are not perfect, KIDS are not perfect, so stop acting like everyone and eveything should be, and STOP GIVING KIDS DRUGS !!
Sorry, but enough is enough with the meds. If we gave meds out to every out there, or the ones that don't care about the well being of a child, they would make a lot more money than medicating children.

"Ring of Fire" Characteristics:
_ Oppositional behavior.
_ Irritability.
_ Excessive talking.
_ Temper problems.
_ Extreme moodiness.
_ Distractibility.
_ People with this type tend to be sensitive to sounds.

For those of you who are not new to ADHD and have come to a realization of what it really means to have ADHD, you may find this somewhat comforting.
All I ever hear about in the media and general culture is how ADHD means someone has problems concentrating. For some, hyperactivity has nothing to do with their inability to focus. For some it is a mental disorder, not an involuntary physical distraction. So just pump them full o' meds and problem solved, right? In my personal experience I came to the realization a few years ago that medication for ADHD does not solve your ADHD. It does not even allow you to "fix" your ADHD, it simply makes it easier for you to cope with ADHD in your life. This brings us to my next point. More recently I have come to the realization that nobody can ever "fix" ADHD. Even if you take medication, follow a special diet, meet with a psychologist or try out behavior training, it will never be solved. When you truly have ADHD, it is a life long battle that many of us never signed up for.
This is where I start to feel alone, like nobody knows the whole story or sees it for what it is. ADHD has almost become a joke, "You don't have attention defi-whatever, you're just lazy" or "You just are not trying hard enough". In my opinion, people do not realize it is more than not being able to sit still, or daydreaming too often. I have heard countless peers, in school and out, claim that they must have ADHD because History class is boring and they don't want to learn about it. That really aggravates me, I would just like them to know that ADHD is more. As I am sure many of you know, there are many types of ADHD, most commonly it is divided into six different types. I am not going into detail about all of them, but to make my point I will use the type I have as an example.
I have what is referred to as Type 4, Temporal lobe ADD/ADHD, although I do notice a fair amount of symptoms in myself which are related to types other than Type 4. Overall Type 4 seems to describe me the best. My father, who is now 59, recently discovered he too has ADHD, what a surprise. I strongly believe he also has Type 4. As this type relates to me, it can include such characteristics as having periods of quick temper or rage with little or no provocation. People with Type 4 have a tendency of increasing irritability followed by an explosion of aggravation and rage, then ending as they withdraw and become calm and possibly isolate themselves. They can have periods of confusion and can have periods of fear and/or anxiety for no particular reason and can even imagine visual deceptions such as seeing shapes or objects moving that are actually not. When I read this next characteristic I was even more shocked. They may have frequent feelings that they have been somewhere before even though they have not. This basically describes "deja vu". I always get this feeling, sometimes 4 or 5 times a week, I have always noticed it but never knew it could be related or caused by my ADHD. Other less specific characteristics include:
_Easily irritated or frustrated.
_Aggressive behavior.
_Dark mood or thoughts.
_Periods of panic, anxiety or fear.
_Significant mood swings.
_Impulsivity
_Defiant/disobedient toward authority figures/parents.
_Can display anti-social behavior
_Learning problems and bad handwriting are common.
_Periods of confusion.
_Emotional instability.
_Memory problems.
_Bouts of intense anxiety.
_Heightened sensitivity to criticism.
_Social withdrawal.
Some other characteristics of Type 4 I discovered involve memory problems, such as forgetfulness, and dark thoughts involving suicide or homicide. I also noticed some other characteristics in myself not related to Type 4. Such as, finding myself locked into a course of action that may or may not be in my best interest. I notice a tendency to get locked into a loop of negative thoughts that I continue to have over and over.
The symptoms listed below are a variety affecting all six types; I picked them out specifically because of how little they relate to the common perception of ADHD.
_Tendency for sleep problems (sleeping too much or too little)
_Feelings of guilt, hopelessness and personal worthlessness (people who are affected by ADHD like this are commonly mistaken as suffering from chronic depression)
_Depression or low-grade depression.
_Low motivation and drive.
_Appetite problems.
_Unprovoked anger.
_Frequent headaches and/or stomach aches.
_Involuntary tics.
_Paranoia.
_Hypergraphia-extensive compulsive writing, or the opposite where they cannot write down what they are thinking.
_Low energy
_Hyperactivity
_Senselessly worrying.
_Obsessive and excessivley worried.
Some people may look at these symptoms and characteristics with disbelief. They may think, "Well everyone has ADHD, there are a hundred things that mean you have it". People with ADD/ADHD do not just display some of these. What I noticed is that I display the majority of all these characteristics, or at least the ones pertaining to my type. Whether the symptoms are logically linked to eachother or not. Bad handwriting and having intense bouts of anxiety have absolutely no connection to each other what so ever, yet they are both common in people with type 4 ADHD. Its not that people with ADHD can display some of these characteristics, its that people with ADHD display close to all of them.
This is no "poor me" routine, I write this simply because I would like to see more understanding and more merit granted to ADHD and the people affected by it. I would just like to see it treated like any other serious, life long disorder. I have included the sources of my information below. If you read this article and found yourself strongly relating to any of the characteristics mentioned above, I recommend you visit the sites and read about it. It certainly gave me a much different outlook on ADHD, and how greatly and broadly it may affect me during my life.
NOTICE: Beyond providing exceptional information, each of the sites below sells ADD/ADHD treatment and medications. I have listed them for informational referencing only! I do not promote or encourage anyone to practice or purchase any of the treatments offered. If anything I would encourage you to consult an ADD/ADHD specialist if you have not already done so.

i know EXACTLY how you feel with these symptoms.
I believe there are even a fair number of people who have ADD/ADHD and yet still have not seen or explored the complexities of it. Not to say that I have.I dunno. I'm obsessed with the meds and read about them like crazy because I like reading about them over and over and over pointlessly, and I can say I only know MY adhd, and only YOU know yours.
I only know MY adhd, and only YOU know yours.
Yes, many people just believe it just means you cant pay attention, or that you can sit still. Many others just don't care. Those s!
