Stimulants and social interaction | ADHD Information

Just wondering what some of your personal experiences with stimulants are as far as interacting socially goes. I just started Concerta and am hoping it will help me listen better in turn hold a better conversation. What types of qualities did you see an improvement on?

Thanks

It does help a ton with social interactions.  For me, I no longer had to spend all of my effort simply trying to keep track of the conversation.  I have the extra attention necessary to make/get jokes.  It doesn't take me 30 seconds (while the convo passes by) to form a coherent response.

I take Adderall.

Welcome and good luck.  Let us know how it goes!

It might depend on your ADD diagnosis.  I am very inattentive. Taking concerta improved my ability to follow a conversation, stay on track, and thus I found that people started talking to me more.

I thought that my hearing had improved too, LOL  People would call my name from behind and I would turn around to answer. In the past, I never heard them because I was so preoccuppied with my own thoughts.

I am happier and more productive, those qualities alone would naturally spill over into more possitive social interaction.  Good luck.  Time will tell what positive or negative effects you see with your meds.. we all react just a bit differently.

I didnt have a problem tracking conversations but definently had one talking too much, interrupting people and shooting my mouth off. Ritalin helped on both accounts.
