Govt. changes
I find it hard to believe that with all the school districts that have special ed departments, special ed classrooms, support services (ot, pt, speech etc.), special ed schools, pscyhologists etc. that these programs are going to go away any time soon.
It would be great to find out exactly what this person meant.
Just like I said only the Severe kids will be helped by SE. Where did you hear that? If a child is disabled, they qualify for help in this country. Its under IDEA and 504.From our Se director!Well, the new 2004 federal SE laws just went into effect this year, and they don't seem to be more restrictive for LD kids. In fact, the 2004 law was designed to try and keep states from using the discrepancy model as the sole exclusion from SE services for LD kids. The states are fighting this, and it will be interesting to see how it all works out. If the future laws change, it won't be a quick process because it never is, so I'm not overly concerned at this point.
