Two more days of school but summer’s here | ADHD Information
ds will be leaving on saturday to attend a high school program at a northeastern college (we live in the northwest)
in addition to taking some classes it is to see how he does living away
from home since he wants to go away to college in another year. Kind
of like practice in a college environment. I am hoping he will figure
out how to manage his meds better and get out of bed in the morning.
Last summer he successfully did something like this for a week. It should be a good exercise in responsibility and life skills.
he is looking forward to taking a music composition and performance class, soccer and we encouraged
a structured writing course taught by an instructor of Landmark College
(for adders and LDers)
Tangent:
he is slowly getting ready to pack, but seems to be avoiding the organization and drudgery of it for the most part.
When I got home after work today the boys were already enjoying their
school-free afternoon having forgotten mom's suggestion to start
getting things ready to pack.
the youngest had ridden his bike into town with friends and then
stopped by the lake for a swim, without my permission or leaving a note
with a contact number...

instead of packing ds had forgotton to take Ritalin (probably playing
on the computer for hours ) and as i tried to problem solve with him,
he was laying on the floor messing around with an upside down office
chair on him spinning the wheel assembly around. It was impossible to
carry on a conversation with him until the meds kicked in.
