Thanks all.
Made it back safely and never took any Valium(or Xanax) and do think that the ADD meds helped me concentrate on driving better.
I think the panic attacks are a seperate issue, perhaps stemming from other unresolved areas in my life (regrets, stress, etc).
You know, mixing anything while on a prescription med strikes me as a really dumb idea, while driving or otherwise. Gald I kept the impusivity in check and didn't actually take anything else.
Rn wares prisms in her glasses and so do i. Get a therapeutic eye exam. 1- 4 people need help from this type dr. They can help out a lot. It has made a difference for all 3 of us in this family.I have a big road trip starting tomorrow with my family. 2 days driving out to Phoenix and 2 days back.
In the past, I've had panic attacks while driving on the freeway. Mentioned this to my psydoc during initial evaluation, but all we treated at the time was my ADD. Hoping that the ADD treatment would make the anxiety abate.
I've been getting increasingly anxious about this trip. I even called my psydoc and asked for an appointment to discuss this, but the soonest he could see me is in three weeks.
So I went ahead and ordered Valium online - impulsively I know. I just want to relieve my anxiety for the trip and then work on a longer-term/ more permanent cure when I get back.
Now I feel bad - like I'm an addict or something. But I can't have a drink while driving. Anybody else ever taken matters into their own hands like this? What do I tell the doc when I get back? Could it be a sign of something else?
I just so want to look forward to this time with my family and have a good time.
LilBoPeeo38891.7186458333that what i was thinking valium can't be good for driving
that amount of time driving for an ADD is a nightmare,i wish i could give you advice but i don't drive but being ADD i can understand your dilemna.
a bus or plane or train would also be my answer
You might as well drink and drive, because Valium has pretty much the exact same effect as alcohol.
Can you take a plane/train/bus, or have someone else drive? Do you have a family doctor or someone else who you could see sooner? Would it help if you drove at night when there's far less traffic? If you have a small car, would you feel safer if you were to rent/borrow a big land yacht?
If you absolutely must drive and take Valium, start using it a few days in advance so you can get used to its effects and know what to expect.
We don't go on long trips too often but when we do we make stops on the way. It is hard for my daughter to sit in the car so long. She not only gets restless and bored but car sick also. I'm more tolerant, but if I am the one driving, the stops help me too. Maybe breaking up the trip a little bit might help, or like Scotmama said, maybe an alternate choice of transportation. Hope it works out for you and wishing you a safe trip. DeeThe Valium sounds scary to take while driving. My bf has had panic attacks so he keeps Xanax on hand. It doesn't make him tired.
Since you don't have time to go to the doc. before your trip, just take it slow with frequent stops.
If you choose to take the Valium, please at least cut it in half or in quarters...PLEASE drive carefully.
