My son is 17 years old and has had ADD for years and has been on everything. He is very thin and now on Wellbutrin which does give him energy and helps him concentrate, he just does not want to eat and looses alot of weight and is so frustrated.(all the drugs for concentration do that to him) Do vitamins really help? He has anxiety when off his zoloft? I am afraid to wean him off both for fear of anxiety and lack of concentration and lethargy. Also he is starting college and I am afraid he will not do well. I am also worried people who push certain vitamins and companies have some financial interest in the company? I really need advice on the vitamin thing. What have your vitamins done for your child? THe person on the vitamin company that starts with an Levin also can you tell me more about that also. What about other vitamin routines? Thankyou!Hello Lucy,

I'm not sure if it will work for your son but I drink Glaceau Vitamin Water. They have a bunch of different flavors and can be bought at most grocery stores (at least in South Jersey). Different drinks have different vitamins and are aimed at different objectives. I (17 and on Ritalin) don't feel hungry a lot of the time either. I'm finding the most important thing, even if I don't feel like it, is to eat a lot of protein. Even just having a cheese stick or some peanuts helps. I'm going to try and remember and post it tomorrow or the next day, but I'll ask my sister what she thinks would be good. She's a pro at suppliments and vitamins. He might not even need a pill but add something like ginger (just example) to his drink. I'll let you know what she says.

Good luck!Marley2436538918.8950347222

I have nothing to do with any company. I say try anything than those drugs. I mean, they can't do know more harm to him then what he has already taken. There is a topic that had a good out come on here, go check it out. That person told how she did it and what she gave her kid.  I would try giving him boost to drink "the weight gain one".  Good luck !

I haven't hear from my sister but there's a whole list of herbal ways for lack of appetite.

Angelica, ramson, burnet, barberry, fenugreek, savory, mountain ash, vervain, gentian, vinegar, fennel, galangal, clove, coriander, marjoram, balm, mint, parsley, rosemary, mustard, centaury, juniper, chicory, wormwood, hyssop, and cinnamon.

I'd recommend balm or mint from what I read. You can put them into teas.

I have a son, now 14 who was classified with ADHD back when he was 7. We had alot of problems with him in school as well as socially.  Our son was on Ridalin, Strattera, Aderall and so on, but they made my son into a zombie. We have found that children with ADHD, ADD have lack of minerals in their body and with extensive research we have come up with some natural vitamins that have worked. My son had a "C" average up to 6th grade on all the ridalin and other drugs until we put him on these vitamins (with NO ridalin or any other drugs) in 7th and 8th and he was on the honor roll. He was a true success story for the school. They are all liquid because my son cannot take pills. Fish oil (omega3), Body Balance (high anti-oxidants) and OsteproCare (calcium/magnesium) are the 3 liquid vitamins we give him along with a multi-vitamin. If you are interested in reading more on the Body Balance and the OsteoProCare the website is www.lifeforce.net/20458118. The Fish Oil website is http://www.vitacost.com/CarlsonTheVeryFinestFishOil-500ml. Vitamins are not the only antidote though, it takes alot of work of the parent as well. The parent must understand that self esteem if the most important factor of a child with ADHD/ADD. If that goes you will have an extremely hard time bringing it back up. Sports, kickboxing and any other active activities are very important in their lives. Sports for the activity, kickboxing for the discipline. My son is a very active soccer player and also takes kickboxing. He does not have alot of friends but these are issues that need to be dealt with as well. I hope this helps.
