ill mornings | ADHD Information

My nine year old adhd daughter is very ill and whiny in the morning and almost always ends up in an argument with me or my younger daughter.  Is this part of the adhd?  What can I do to prevent this, if anything?

.IMac38944.8561111111For us it depends on the day sometimes she is happy go lucky and some mornings look out.  The positive is once the crabbies are over they are good to go.What do you mean by ill? Is he on medication? What does he do to express his anger? Thanks. The AM's are the worst! My daughter is argumentive and downright MEAN before her meds kick in! Having my 2 ADHD'ers up at the same time, trying to get them to get ready is an absolute nightmare! Summers are much more relaxing for us! This is a common complain that i've seen parents mention time and again.  It was mostly solved by

1-the timing of the medication- give it 15 minutes or so before they need to get up.

2-the timing of when each child wakes up, so that they are at different parts of the house getting ready.  (one is eating while the other is using the bathroom or  dressing.)

3-teach the non-adder how to let "ill" comments roll off without responding.

Mornings used to drive my youngest absolutely crazy because it took him years to understand and develop strategies for coping with his older brother.  I used to laugh and tell my boys that they were on opposite activity levels.  In the mornings the youngest was quiet and calm while the older's meds were kicking in.  By the afternoon when they would see each other again,  the youngest's behavior was louder and wilder while the older would get irritated because he was trying to focus on something.

Ah !   Family life!
