Rae the Bank Robber

I think this is too funny  Not that you are down to your last penny but the fact that the teller made a huge error and decided to threaten you by lettign you know you were on camara... everyday cashiers, bank tellers make these errors and depending on how large it is or how often it is made they may lose their job...I worked as a teller and made several mistakes that cost 100's of dollars that I paid for after they let me go...it was the ADHD in me   talk about hyper active when you are super busy with tons of money(((((((Rae)))))))))

I can only imagine how difficult that was for you.

One time I drove up to the bank to make a deposit when I was also VERY poor. It was one of those drive-up places that had "tubes" that whooshed off to the teller. Well, when I opened the tube I discovered that it was STUFFED with cash...and I mean STUFFED!

I could have taken it and just driven off and it probably would have taken them quite a while to figure it out (if ever). It was the hardest thing to do to just push the button to whoosh it to the teller and tell her what I found. Augh.
I think its great that you gave the money back.  A lot of folks would not have done so.

On last friday, I had $100 dollars to my name for the rest of the week.  I had to feed my family of 6 and also have a sleep over party for my 12 year olds bday  that had been organised when I was a little more financial.

I sent a little prayer up to God on my way to withdraw my last $100 bucks and I asked him to help me stretch this money so as it lasts the week out.

Lo and behold the teller accidently handed me $500 instead.  My body acted before my normally very honest mind and I ran for it with my new found wealth, dragging my 3 year old as fast as I could back to the car .

By the time I got home, my guilt was so overwhelming that I put the money aside to bring back on the following monday.  But the teller called and told me she  remembered what she did and that they had me on camera.

So I wrote a letter of apology and with the $400 in envelope, went back to the bank and humbly explained my impulsive behaviour.

Desperation and illusions of prayers being delivered I took what did not belong to me and in the end embarrassed myself terribly.

What an idiot, I can only laugh now, but the tears were flowing and the teller gave me  a big hug and apologised for putting me in that situation, because she understood because she was a poor single mom.

The world is a very strange place.  Just when you think you know yourself, you surprise yourself.

The birthday party was okay.  In fact I think it was a success.  The girls slept in a tent out the back, they had pizza for dinner, sausage sizzle for lunch and b'day cake and jelly, and nooodles, biscuits and lollies in between.  All home brand label of course.

But I think they had fun!.  Thanks for all the nice things said.  - Still struggling on - but still eating and breathing.  So things must be okay.

How was the bday party :)
