meds confusing

THANK YOU -- YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ON THE PICKING YOUR BATTLES IN STEAD OF WASTING 20 MINUTES OF ARGUING AND YELLING.sorry dj - have had none of those experiences.  And you are not stupid for trying new things.  You are a caring, loving, mom that is perservering.  Your boy is lucky to have you.Yeah i wish he knew that i feel so guilty at times almost like i dont want him around me anymore like this morning see his dad is on vacation this week and up with him to in the morning and its like he tries to play us aganist each other although we are both telling him the same thing like this morning one simple task put his jacket on before the bus got there well what a mess he thought it was funny arguing with us and telling us he didnt need it to the point where he got his butt whipped and afterwords no remorse still mouthy, disrespectful, i felt so embarassed the neighbor boy comes over in the morning to wait on the bus with him and here he is inside screaming and being hatefull i asked the neighbor boy if he acts this way on the bus and he said no i mean just this last week it has gotten progressively worse how much time can i afford to take off and go thru the gerbal syndrome of tests upon tests upon tests when all you feel is like giving up literally -- i begin to feel he is EVIL as much as i hate to say that but why?????? he's not from an abusive home, we try to do everything as parents we can but nothing works HOPELESS AND CONFUSED

djsmommie - First of all, while we didn't try B'Calmed, we did try Focus, without noticing much difference.  We find that simply giving him a multi-vitamin and being a bit more controlling of his diet (it was so carb loaded), we see the same type of results as we did with Focus - minor focus improvement.  It wasn't enough to continue paying for the pills.  Maybe you will see a different result.

As far as the arguing in the morning - frankly, I would have let him go without the jacket.  Why bother with the argument?  If he's cold, so what?  You won't be cold!  Maybe tomorrow he'll make the decision to take his jacket all by himself.  Pick your battles - if he has to deal with the consequences of being cold, having messy hair, or wearing two different shoes, then so be it.  You might worry a little bit, but it's not going to kill either of you.

After much communication with our sons teacher, we discovered that he actually did better in school on the days we had a blow up in the morning.  Maybe it's some kind of instinct for him to get his adrenaline going - kind of a jumpstart on his engine.  Now, to give him the rush, we just toss him out the window.  JUST KIDDING!  No, actually, I drag his reluctant little  butt out of bed 30 minutes early and make him go on a bike ride or walk with me.  The exercise  (if I work him hard enough) seems to take the edge off.  On rainy/snowy days, we either head off to the rec center, or we do some goofy aerobics to get us going.  Not always the way I want to start my morning, but it definately helps my guy.  After much heart burn, we've finally gotten into a habit and we consider it our special time for the day.

I'm back today with some new information that i hope to get some answers on if possible -- any help would be appreciated since this seems to be the only place that you dont feel isolated talking about your childs behavior -- My ped recommended that we lower his dosage of Startera to 18mg from 25mg which would leave him total taking 1mg of clonidine ( one in the morning and one before bed ) 1 36mg of Concerta and now 18mg of Stratera versus the 25 -- his ped. said that his body is developing a resistance to the Stratera and next step is to lower the dosage of it -- HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS AND IS THIS SOMEWHAT CORRECT???? Also i may be stupid for this but hey at this point you'll try anything i got my first bottle in yesterday of B'Calmed havnt tried it yet on him -- has anybody had any experience on this???? thank you
