His senseis are from a nearby town. They teach children during the summer but not here. They also have adult classes during the summer. I do like the price they offer. So I will likely take him back to them in the fall. I think the local YMCA offers a martial arts camp. They may also offer judo classes. I will check into it.
This is for anyone who currently has or has had their ADHD child in karate. Did your child take part in karate year round or have a break in the summer? Brandon's karate ended tonight and I'm just trying to decide whether or not to put him in a class during the summer. He loves karate! I asked his sensei tonight. He said that nobody teaches like him since he has been teaching for 40 years. He suggested not to and to return to his class in the fall.
Strange, most are year-round. I did notice that my city's park and rec department offered a summer session. Maybe yours does also. I would ignore the arrogant statements by the instructor. He's just worried about losing a student. He has a financial agenda that doesn't have much to do with your son.I called a few karate schools today. I found a good one. I can walk there now that the weather is nice! The bus doesn't go there. The man said that they close for the last 2 weeks of August which is ok since we will be away. He also said that Brandon can come to 1 or 2 classes and see how he likes it. Then I would pay for one month. Then they will close. Also we can return in t he fall. No thanks. I am not walking that in the winter.
Apparently Brandon can attend classes up to 4 times per week for the same price as 1 class per week.
