Marble system | ADHD Information
Ogram is the designer of the program PM her with questions. We use a similar chip system. I make my kids pay for computer, TV time, field trips at daycare or the boys and girls club. In real life there is a cost for everything, whether it be time or money or whatever. That way I do not go broke. They can earn bonus chips whenever we deem they did. If they ask for chips, no chips. they can point out good things they did, but cannot ask for chips. I do not make them pay for outside activities, all kids need excercise, and have even on occasion paid them to go outside and play so I can get a moment of peace.Yes, both my sons behavour is gone form good to bad to worse since i stopped using the charts, there bed times i dread, becoz i need my time to wind down, im not getting it becoz they are driving me madder running up & down the stairs after them all the time, then the baby is disturbed & wont go down, so it goes on like that all night.
I have now stopped them having a dvd to watch on bed time, as that use to work but has worn off now, so bed time is a little later & NO dvd, but they are going to bed as i would like them too.
They use to be allowed to have a toy or a book in there bed as long as they were quite, but that slowly wore off aswell.
I have been trying to do this marble thing for the passed three days, they are slowly getting the hang off it, i have three pots, one for mikey, one for corey-max, & one for kaci, even though she is only two, i am involving her also, i will put one in for each good behavour im getting from them & i will take one out for any bad behavour. At the end of the week, they can count up there marbles & i will make a grid for them to see on the wall, 5 marbles=50p 10 marbles=£1.00 or they are into there sticker books at mo so offer that also, & games console, or lego.... no sure yet have yet to decide.mikmum38904.0882986111
I started this and it is a “hands on” discipline program that most ADHD kids will respond to. ADHD kids need to participate in their discipline. They do well if they are able to have hands on and participate in. If they can see it, they will respond to it. This is what I do. I keep a log, but he is the one to add and remove the marbles. I am also ADHD, so this system works for me to keep consistency in our home.
