Legg-Calve-Perthes & ADD connection? | ADHD Information

Frankiemum posted something about her son having Legg-Calve-Perthes syndrome (a problem with the hip bone) and a connection with ADD. My DS also has both. I am wondering if anyone else has this or has heard of the connection?

My son was dx'd with L-C-P when he was only 2; didn't start ritalin until age 7, so no connection there. He was premature; I've often wondered if that was a cause for the LCP with his hip bone not fully developed.

I dont know if being premature can cuse it but Frankie was full term as the other 3 of my children were. having looked up the LCP condition it isnt known what triggers it off, it thought to be from smoking while pregnant, poor diet, maybe genetic if so they think its from the male side, also its  a common condition in small dogs i.e Terriers, Daschunds, springer Spaniels

hi

The hospital told me that there isnt a connection between the two but I am wondering if there could be a link with the medications for ADHD/ ADD and their side effects.I did read that joint pain can sometimes be a side effect but how common/rare I dont know but having looked on the internet thats the only similarity I can find between the two.

I just joined this site and was so excited to see so many interesting things.  My son has perthes also and has ADHD.   Let me know if you find out anything further about it.  Thanks Rose
