YOU CAN OPEN YOUR OWN ACCOUNT AND TRY AGAIN !!!!!!!

UM SORRY ABOUT THAT" OH LOOK A CHICKEN".. LOVE IT.. CHICKEN IS A FUNNY WORD

we set up all our direct debits to be taken on payday,we also have several bank accounts.scotdaddy has the main one where the bills are paid from,no chequebook so we can't get over the limit.i have a saving account for emergencies or unexpected expenses.then we have a long term saving account with high interest that we can't touch for one year for big expenses like holidays, windows or new car.

scotdaddy's credit card is a charge card that has to be paid fully every month.the reason we have his and hers accounts and charge card?i keep his credit card and debit card so we can't spend without each others approval.i can't use his cards since my name is not on it,he can't use them as i have them.

that way we always have money in our bank

Never was able to ballance a check book but i can remember most of my
purchases, even though i buy a lot. I can tell you things i bought 4 years
ago. NERD ALARM !!!! (that's me)

I don't use bank ,credit cards except for internet purchases or if I'm in a foreign country. I pay in cash.

I try to save 10 % of our income so I pay myself first by putting it into savings every month. I do this faithfully.
First I deduct all my set bills from my(our) monthly income.
Then what I have left I put into 4 envelopes for the 4 weeks in the month. That is how much I have for the monthweek to spend. I also write down what we spent on those envelopes and keep all receipts in them.
I always hide 100. euros extra) in my wallet in case I need more in an emergency or happen to run out.
The savings come in handy for unexpected costs or repairs and such.
If I use plastic I seem to spend alot more.
Hope this helps !

worldisround38934.4121527778I only keep two accounts, both severely depleated!Never could balance either one, but they're at different locations and I send a direct deposit to the savings account. That way when I (always) over estimate what I have in my checking account, I can usually recover by the next paycheck.

When my bank went online, I started using that.  I balance my account almost every week now, which for me is a lot easier than once a month.  It was to overwhelming.  I never balanced my account before and got in trouble quite often.

I use my bank card for most of my purchases and I make sure I put the receipts in my wallet when I put my card back.  Once in awhile I will lose a receipt but it hasn't been much of a problem since I check my statement every week.

My checking account has always been a nightmare for me.  I couldn't remember to use the check register.  When I'd look back through my carbon copies they would be smeared and I couldn't tell for sure how much or where/for what the check was written for.  Being able to manage my account online has been the only way for me other than not having a checking account.
That sounded bad, very bad.   I do not mean that I treat my wife as a tool, but rather that she is very organized mentally and a champion at linear thinking.  I'm better at impromptu cooking vs. she's better at following recipes.
It's okay I "use" my husbands uncomplicated, organised, focusing skills

he goes through it with me so i'm up to date for when he leaves (only joking) and I just nod and smile in what I think are appropriate ways, thinking what I'm doing next...

This subject is one that my doctor asked me about in one of my many evals for adhd medication.  He asked if I had problems balancing my checkbook and I said, "you mean people actually do that?"

I just use ATM reciepts to see where I am at.  Of course I am one that doesn't pay my bills on time even though I have the $$$$$.

Crap! Are you saying that I'm hoping for too much?

Okay, I admit it. I don't balance our household checking account.  I have no clue as to how much money is in there.  I don't even look at the statements.  I have a feeling that we're losing money in fees cause I don't know.  I mean that's just stupid.  There has to be an easy way to balance it that is ADD friendly. How do y'all do it?   I used to use Quicken but having to input things twice and the way Quicken made you specify what the check was for.  Like the credit card payment. That's for a lot of stuff and I don't keep up with receipts.

The new medicated me thinks I can do it with the right tool.  So what is an ADD friendly tool to balance your checkbook?

When you find a method that works, let us all know!!!!

I use my wife. That sounded bad, very bad.   I do not mean that I treat my wife as a tool, but rather that she is very organized mentally and a champion at linear thinking.  I'm better at impromptu cooking vs. she's better at following recipes.   I gave up trying to balance mine about 8 years ago.  Funny thing, not knowing what is in there, I can actually save money.  The unknown makes me cautious.  *grinI gave up on balancing ours years ago, when I got married.  I was always compulsive with it back when I was single, but it became too much for me with two of us using the account.  I have had some success with using the Billpay service that our bank offers online.  At least I can set up to have certain bills paid monthly out of our checking account, and it will keep track of our balance for me.  However, I still find that I think that I have a bill set up for an automatic monthly payment, when it was actually set up for a single payment.  I also have to remember to check our balance online frequently, which I usually forget to do!I haven't balanced my checkbook in years

I don't think my bookkeeper has been able too, either...

I still bounce checks.
i let my bookkeeper do my personals too

i keep three accounts

one has to have money some time
i let my bookeeper do my personal too

I never balance mine.  I get by because I go enormous lengths to not write a check.  I use online bill pay for most everything and atm/debit for just about everything else.  I got it down to a check for bowling every two weeks and a check for the lawn mower man.

I also keep a savings account as automatic overdraft protection to the main account and in addition to deposits on payday, if I get a large lump sum such as an income tax return, I put it in there.  If it starts getting low, I get nervous and try to build it back up again.  It's my cushion.

I can go online and look at my balance, what has cleared, etc all the time.  Since there are only a few things I write checks for I know they are still out and mentally subtract them from the balance.  When payday comes I pay everything in one fell swoop (if I don't I forget one or another).  The online bill pay at Bank of America also lets you know the last date you made a payment which is nice.

I pay 20 a month I think for this type of account but it saves me tons because the overdraft transfer doesn't cost per transaction.
