Tools for Organization | ADHD Information

I have been reading this forum for quite some time, it is a great forum for ADDers and Non ADDers  alike. I appreciate the helpful  insights people share with each other.

I am wondering what kind of Organization tools people have been using ,specially Software's because SW planners are easier to maintain. I have used Franklin Planner  for quite some time , It 's user interface is quite friendly where you can see All your tasks ,appts ,to-do lists on a single page. It has nice priortization techniques  and autoforwarding for unfinished tasks besides other cool features .But I 've found hard to follow when I  want to follow a Task as a Project. i,e. a Task is broken into sub_taks  and down further . It is very important for ADDers to be able to navigate to big picture while lost in details for the obvious porous memory problems.
Another shortcomming is Alarms which are not easier to setup. For example If I want to setup alarms to remind me pay bills , setup recurring schedule such car checkups, doctors physicals etc. May be then Franklin Planner is not designed for that.
Anybody has experience  of other Software Tools specially marketed as ADD freindly tools?

Just make a todo list. We keep a calendar each month on the refrig. Lists daily activities in each day. Also only do 1 thing at a time if finishing is hard. Pay bills according to  the date they are do. This well keep them on time also. All our appliances beep here love it tells me it's done. Do things the easy ways is what works here.

Pill paying can be done on line also!

I work in product innovation and have to manage multiple projects at a time so I have the same needs as you. I found and use an offline planner call the Planner Pad -- it works exceptionally well for me. http://plannerpads.com/

Being a techie, I've had Palm Pilot's since the first one came out back in 95'.

Since then, to keep me not only organized but simple, I switched to PDA phone's, on my 5th version and would never go back.  Sad thing is, I'm totally lost without it.  It tells me when it's time to go to meetings, where the kids need to be at any given time, what bills to pay on what days, etc.

I always have charged up batteries with me, knowing that without it, I'm a mess.

Tools outside of this would be, whatever I pick up, I need to do then or throw away, knowing I will never get to it.  Simplicity is the key to my life.  I refuse to add too much complexity to anything, always adding in backup plans, backup catch alls to ensure that I am on top of everything I need to be doing or need to be responsible for.

Drives the people in my life a bit nuts, but they'll tell anyone, they know they can count on me to get things done and make sure everything is inline.  Especially helpful when your ex-husband, current husband and three kids also all have versions of ADD!  Yikes!!

Hello

So I found the perfect one for me about a month ago. It is called calnique and is a free download. I think you can do a google search for calnique or go to free downloads.com. Anyway it is a calendar for your computer and obviously we have those. Unless some of you are at work but you can schedule each day and event individually with different colors and signs of importance and I now use it for my wallpaper so first thing I see when I turn on the computer is my list for the day, and then each time I add or delete something I just go to the tool and save it again as wall paper. I think it helps soo much and you can print it and take it with you. I used to have 3 calendars all over the house now I just use this one.

If you cant find it and want more info let me know and I will investigate.

[quote]It  surely look like planner which caters for what I am looking , However the drawback which I see here is that it is Paper planner and one needs to be constantly paying attention and be on the top of things to keep track of the tasks which are work in progress and needs to be carry forwarded , Thus it would be hard to catch up if you slacked off  or gone on vacations  which is very often the case with me. The carry forward issue is an issue. The developer of the Pad has a method for dealing with that and explains it with a CD that comes with the pad. However, my opinion is that it's not ADD friendly.

However, I've found the issue to be a plus for me. Every week I re-write forwarding issues into the new week. While it is extra work, it helps my ADD brain to re-focus on the tasks for the week and forces me to re-evalute the necessity of some tasks.
