doesnt like the rain??? | ADHD Information

My ADHD daughter just itches all over when she's been outside, but I've never really been able to associate it with sweating.  She, too, would be in a bathtub or swimming pool all the time if she could.  I think that it is the only thing that relaxes her.  She has no problem with the sun.  I've had some luck with using skin lotions with her for the itching.  I think, if anything, it has a psychological benefit for her.

I have a 6 yo boy with ADHD he is on Medidate and doing well. There are a few things I am wondering about though.... My son Hates to be rained on (he has been this way as long as I can remeber) But he loves to take a bath & swim.. If it is drizzling let alone pouring you have to pull him the 3 feet from the garage door to the car.  If we do get caught in the rain he complains of intense itching. I try to be prepared as possible Umbrella, Jackets, Ponchos, and change of clothes. being ADD myself things dont always fall into place like they could - Umbrella is at home with the jacket & Poncho & Dry clothes.  Now that he is getting more involved in sports he has the same complaints with sweating - He cant stand it... Anyone else have any issues like this? Any suggestions on helping him through these issues without causing some episode which will cost him hundreds or thousands of dollars in PyschoTherapy Bills as an adult?? I have tried taking him out in the rain to play but that didnt turn out so well. Oh yeah one other thing he does not like to be outside when it is very bright out - He complains that it hurts his eyes - I have managed to combat this one a little by getting him Transition lenses in his glasses. any suggestions?

OMG! YES! I never met another person whose son hated sweating and itched all over from it. All I can say is it sounds like sensory stuff. I haven't been able to find a solution. I took him to a skin doctor and even the cream he got didn't stop him from complaining about itching. He's ok with the sun. I hope someone has better advice.

Maybe Sensory Intergration Dysfunction? (I think it's also called Sensory Processing Disorder) My daughter hates barking dogs & vacuum cleaners.  Her reaction is nothing short of a panic attack.  She becomes hysterical.  Screaming, crying, shortness of breath, wants to be held or will run and hide.  Her reaction is so intense - very out of proportion to the whole situation.  Here is a site with good info:

Beckysmom38911.3735300926my son has a exzema and I can't find a cream for him either and he doesn't like his hair getting wet.My daughter is bothered by exzema also, but only during the winter.  The doctor has prescribed Elidel for this, and it seems to helpThanks everyone.... My son does not have exzema or any other rashes.... I read through the Sensory Intergration Dysfunction information and it doesnt sound too much like that either but I will bring it up at our next appointment.  We also have tried a few different lotions but they seem to make it worse as they seem to get a little slimey when wet from rain or sweat. Thanks again....
