Did his anger begin or escalate after he was put on the meds? Does he have periods of being very angry like that and then periods of being passive or happy, depressed or anything?, When this happened each time my son was just coming off his meds.  I've talked to his doctor about him being bi polor because my mother in law is bi polor and she said that maybe later in life but not now.  Should I just keep a notebook journal or one of those steno pads that they have at schools? My son also gets upset if I don't fix him what he wants to eat I don't know about you guys but I have three kids and I don't want to have three different meals to satisfy my son do any of you guys know if there's a cookbook for kids with displiniary issues I know one food to keep them away from is pickles we all love them so how can I keep them away from one of my children

Again, what meds and what doses is he on?

Why would he think the taxi would take his bed?

What kind of doctor diagnosed him and what kind of doctor is treating him?

Bipolar disorder can be diagnosed and treated at an early age.  I have two children (13-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl) who are being treated for bipolar disorder with mood stabilizers.  We're still tweaking med doses, but they are definitely improving.

Smallmom

he's been taking Ritilain 3 x's a day 5mg for a little bit over a year and Benedrayl for about 3 months now. he takes a  a pill and a half morning lunch and after 3 for when he gets home after his meds he plays nicely for about 2 hours but after that I have to constintly tell him to stop hitting or kicking his sister and brother.

I have no Idea why he would think the taxi cab would take his bed I or his dad did not give him any reason to believe that we would give his bed away.

His doctor is a doctor that specializes in Brains I don't know how to spell the technical name for it.  She diagnosed him and see's him every 3 months and she also sees him at other appointments because they found out that we have something wrong in our genes me and my children.  She's a very good doctor Our peditrition if it wasn't for the counselor and the teachers helping me with my son he wouldn't of gotten diagnoised I've been tell our peditrition since My son was 3 that something was wrong and she would say she doesn't see anything wrong with him and the teachers and the counselor sent papers to the doctor and because of that she refered us to the doctor that we see now he has been seeing her for a year and 2 months his next appointment with her is in September but her schedule isn't up yet so they can't make an appointment for him yet I'll have to call next week.

If a child is mad and all he does is stay mad what things can I do to get him out of the red that he's trapped in.

Please Help

.IMac38944.5729513889Is he on any meds?  If so, what and what is the dose?

It sounds to me as if your son had a bad experience on the bus, and he needed time to decompress when he got home.  I personally would have let him play with his action figures until he calmed down rather than asking him to clean his room.  Of course, that made him angrier.  My kids have "mood boxes" in their rooms; my daughter's, for example, is filled with Lego, Magnetix, markers and paper, Soduku puzzles, etc.  When she is upset, we ask her if she wants to go to her room to decompress and play quietly with something from her mood box.  This inevitably calms her down, and she decides when she is ready to rejoin the family.

I would recommend getting a copy of The Explosive Child by Ross Greene.  This book has helped me understand and parent my extra-challenging children.

One other thought:  If your son is frequently becoming angry and raging for hours, you might want to have him re-evaluated by a board-certified child psychiatrist.  He may not have ADHD, and the stimulants may be making him worse.  A hallmark symptom of bipolar disorder is a decreased need for sleep.  That may be what you're seeing in your son.

I'm sorry you're struggling.  I hope you find some answers soon.

I would seek out help talk to your pediatrition.

my son stayed mad all afternoon yesterday a little girl on his bus kept telling him shut up and he got mad he got off the bus there was a taxi cab next door and my son that it was there to take his bed (this is what he said to me) but before he told me this he went over to the cab and hit the window, I picked him up to take him back to our house but with my leg I can't carry him more then 4 feet so I let him down I was holding his hand and he pulled me down trying to get away finally when I got him inside I went to the bathroom well he came running in there and slammed the door shut he knows the door can't open from the inside but it can from the outside. I finally got out because my daughter pushed the door open and following that I told my son to clean his room, he has this case to hold his action figures and when he didn't go into his room to clean because he wanted to play with his action figures I bent down to close the case he open hand slapped me... at that time I had enough I went to my bed room and just cried he has done so good in the past few months I don't know if school isn't full day or what. he's been taking Ritilain 3 x's a day 5mg for a little bit over a year and Benedrayl for about 3 months now. since he'll wake up in the middle of the night and turn the T.v. on and stay up all night.  Thank you for Responding

That bit about him thinking the taxi was there to get his bed has me concerned. Unless he had a reason to believe his bed was in jeapardy, his belief was really off the wall.

I would talk to his dr about that. There are different diagnosis' which can cause hallucinations, and if he was misdiagnosed, the stims can cause them. I would want him checked out pronto.

Did his anger begin or escalate after he was put on the meds? Does he have periods of being very angry like that and then periods of being passive or happy, depressed or anything? Keep a record of his moods and whether they fluctuate, how often, anything that may have happened to set him off into any mood change, etc. His dr will have a better idea of what to look for if you make it easy for him to see the whole picture.

Good luck with him!
