This will be a big first post but: I am battling coffee/caffiene addiction, agitation, and stimulant treatment. When I first down a big cup of coffee I feel wonderful until it crashes!! I am so pissed, agitated, and cranky now I then take my Ritalin dose 20mg x 3 daily drink gallons and gallons of water, I eat well fruit, multis and many other health foods however. After coffee burns out I feel so terrible. but there is no way I can quit because I dont want to?
Does anyone feel as soon as you take your stimulant med you are in anticipation of waiting for it to dissolve into your stomach? What I mean is that sometimes the Ritalin really helps, and improves my mood function etc. So as soon as I swallow it I almost cannot wait until it kicks in to fix the terribly off track mood I was in.
G-I also am terribly addicted to caffeine! I use it so much that it really does not have much of an effect on me. I usually drink it throughout my waking hours, and it has little effect on my ability to sleep. I also have no desire to quit or decrease my caffeine intake, because I like it so much. I do not usually wake up well. I am usually very tired, foggy, and not in a very good mood. I can not wait for the first cup of coffee. My dose of Adderall XR usually helps to get me going, and I can notice the effect begin about 30 minutes after I take it. Yes, I am so tired and foggy of mornings that I feel like I am anticipating the lift that I get from the meds.Love my coffee. Since I began Adderall I haven't wanted as much. Used to drink an entire pot in the mornings by myself, now just 1 or 2 cups. I have drank coffee since I was 4 years old, I have no intentions of stopping. Coffee gets me going in the mornings. I keep my Adderall in my purse so I can take it about an hour later.i am also addicted to coffee and suffer from IBS.
i did not need it when i started retilin but went back to it when i stopped

I wouldn't be as worried about caffeine as you are - it's probably the safest addiction that you could ever have! LOL! Seriously - tests show that coffee is nowhere near as detrimental to your health as has been claimed. It dehydrates and that's about the extent of it. It's an antioxidant so in some ways can be worth that.
Watch your intake of fruit and multivitamins while on meds. It can decrease the effectiveness of them (vitamin C is ascorbic/citric acid and reduces the effect) so take them after you are done with your dose of meds.
If you quit coffee it's about 3 to 4 weeks of withdrawl (headaches and grumpy) then it's bad effects are gone. You'd have to just bite the bullet and get through it. I'd recommend doing it on your next vacation if you must.

Wow I have never heard that Ritalin will not work good with some vitamins, thats new to me.
What is causing my panic attacks and anxiety has to be my high caffiene intake daily at intervals about 30 minutes before taking my ritalin.
I get major panic lately
