Strattera questionI've been on Strattera for about three weeks now, and it's been going very well. Extremely well, actually. I'm planning on upping my dosage slightly when I meet with my doctor in a week (I'm currently just taking 25mg once a day). However, one thing confuses me... I thought Strattera was supposed to be like Prozac in that it builds up in your system, and one dose doesn't have a major effect in and of itself; it's the levels of it staying high in your system. I'm confused because I forgot my dose this morning -- and I've been my scatterbrained old self all day. I thought I could go home this afternoon and take the dose and be fine, which I still plan to do, but I didn't think I'd see such a recurrence of ADHD just from missing my morning dose. I haven't been able to accomplish a damn thing this morning. Maybe I'm just convincing myself of this? Forgive me if I seem overly worried about this... I just have such huge hopes for Strattera that any problems with it get me really concerned. My understanding is that Strattera actually stays in your system for like 5 hours but the effects of it remain for 24. I'm not sure why it takes a few weeks to feel the "full" effects but after 24 hours it is out of your system. I'm not surprised you felt your symptoms coming back after missing a pill. I was on it for 5 weeks but had some nasty side effects. I stopped taking it after 5 weeks and within 2 days I had no effects from the Strattera at all. |
