3yrs ago my 15yr.old son started sneaking out of the house. He would just walk but for very far distances. We got counsling and had every test possible on his brain and just had med's checked again everything good! As of 4 months ago he begain sneaking out in getting in TRUNKS of cars!!!He was locked in for 14 1/2 hours and has done it 5 times since. Dr's and therapy said to take him to akron if he put himself in danger again; or they will take him from me and charge me if he's harmed!last night he broke the lock on his door[to keep him in at night] and was found in someone's car. I took him straight to Akron Children Hospital where they released him and see no reason to keep him!! They was my last hope!! Can anyone out there please help me before it's to late!!!
helloshell38920.782962963His behavior is awfully bizarre for ADHD. Is that his diagnosis? Are you sure he doesn't have early onset bipolar? Maybe it's time for a second opinion by another Child Psychiatrist (with the MD). That is such weird behavior, I doubt if it's ADHD. You need to keep trying. Some people don't get the right diagnois until adulthood, but you can never stop trying. I recommend positing on the following site for help from other experience parents who've gone through things like that. Do not rule out the possiblity of illegal drug abuse.
MomWI38920.6654513889The system sucks and overloaded and I hate when someone in need falls between the cracks. I feel your pain how scarey it must be. Does your son know what he is doing or why or is he sleepwalking? Obviously something is going on did they even make any recommendations? I would be making phone calls to see where to go next. Keep us posted Jillhe is on ritalin 45 total daily. He has 1/3 of his brain does not function. The ritalin is to slow his possitive and negitive flow down to make the brain work as a whole. It has worked since the testing at age 7.Drug abuse is out of the question.I agree with MomWI. It may not be ADHD at all. What meds is he on?
