I have practiced yoga on and off for 5 years. Perhaps the "on and off" is due to my adhd. But when I get into it, I enjoy it immensely--not only the physical and flexibility benefits, but also the feeling, after a good session of an hour or more, of contentment and total body relaxation--yes, that includes my mind!
I am the first to admit that my yoga is still at a very superficial level...for example, meditation is elusive for me: again perhaps because of my add. Also, I haven't studied the various shakras and so forth. Mine is pretty much a one dimensional, physical stretching, pose holding and controled breathing sort of thing, but it helps! I understand that Dr. Hallowell practices yoga and apparently feels it has some modifying effect on adhd -- I'd like to learn more about his thoughts on this if anyone knows of any articles available on the Web.
This didnt work for me becvause i couldnt sit still long enough, keep queit,
People have posted that they get help. My concern with all the above is that they do require at least some control of attention to really work. Biofeedback has had limited success in tests (again the attention span I'd reckon).
None of the above are in any way harmful to people so I say try them! Maybe a combination of the above with our meds could be very beneficial. Don't know never tried any of them personally. I say go with whatever works!
