People familiar with me on the board know I've had a very long history of jobs gone bad. I've been everything from a janitor, firefighter, teacher, techie - and now I package potato chips. Until on meds I found myself at about a 2 to 3 year loop where I'd start very gung-ho on the job and be everything expected of me. Soon after I'd begin to cycle and find the job droll and dragging me down. Eventually I'd either self-destruct and get fired or just up and quit.
Now I find that any job can be rewarding if you can put everything you have into making it that way. I may not be curing cancer or saving lives but I do my all to be the best chip packer the plant has ever had. I even amaze myself at the lengths I go to in my work ethic.
We have a posting board for people to thank employees who help out to make things work well. This week I see my name - saying "thanks to GlenW - for helping out his teammates at every turn!". I feel good to see that my work is recognized. It can happen with you.
