Thanks for all the input.  We are starting it in the morning.  Did this drug suppress their appetite?
*Yes the appetite does get suppressed I would give my girl a good big breakfast then give it to her and she would not really eat all day until 6-7pm.  As for Ritalin LA loved it then when it switched to concerta do not like concerta for the crashes.

Why did you switch to Concerta?

My 11 yr old daughter has been on Ritalin la and it worked quite well for her.  We have been going between that and concerta because both seem to work, but unfortunately not for long.  It seems that she will build up a resistance after a while and the meds won't work  but then if I swap again, I usually get a good result.  I also noticed a huge problem when my dd was on adderall with her being able to control her emotions and a lot of irritability as well.  I think this will work for you!  Good luck! Thanks for all the input.  We are starting it in the morning.  Did this drug suppress their appetite?

My 9 year old daughter will begin taking ritalin la this weekend.  We have already been on focalin xr and adderall xr which did not work well for her.  Irritability problems with these two were horrible.  Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad with ritalin la?

DD, 7, is on 20 mg Ritalin LA.  She has been on it since early June.  I have not seen any adverse effects on her personality.  For her it lasts approx. 8 hours.  Then I give her short acting ritalin 10 mg around 3:30-4:30.  With Ritalin LA, she seems more like "herself".  When she tried Concerta 27 mg and 30 mg, she just was kind of "flat" a lot of the time.  She has been in summer school for the past 2.5 weeks and I think she is doing OK as far as the school environment is concerned.  Good luck, I understand your trepidation!  Trialing a new drug can be scary.

My 11 year old son has  been on 20 mg of ritalinSR(Canadian version of LA for a year now. I found the SR to be a lot better for him than regular ritalin. He had rebound from it- regular ritalin. You can also try to use the non XR form.  Ask your dr about it.  Both my sons are on meds for adhd and other things and for some reason the xrs do not work for them.  We have had to use the IR and give more frequant.
