Success with Methylin ER? | ADHD Information
Hi. Our insurance covers a med for our 10 year old daughter, called METHYLIN ER. It does not cover ADDERALL XR, although we HAVE paid cash for a 60 day supply at 5mg. This is the first time we have ever given our daughter any meds for her ADHD. We just started the ADDERALL XR dosage today. I'll get a better idea of how it's working, over the next few days I guess. Forgive me for rambling here (Adult with ADD here, and no meds ), but has anyone had success with METHYLIN ER, or negative experiences with it? Any feedback will be so appreciated. Thank you,...Paul

The only thing that I have seen about Methylyn is that it seems to require several doses throughout the day, maybe something has changed??
My daughter's doctor tells us now that she would not reccomend Methylin er. We'll see how the adderall xr goes. Don't see much of a change yet, but it's a very small dose for now, only 5mg once a day. Baby steps, ya know?
Is Methylyn the liquid form? If it is just an FYI: It is no longer offered. I believe this is the drug our psych prescribed and we went to the pharmacy and found this out.
If your insurance covers Methylyn and not Adderall, you need to have your physician write a letter as to the necessity of this drug including the diagnosis with the ICD9 Code. Submit this to your insurance company and let them know you will be contacting the State Insurance Board regarding this issue. This may help you in getting your drug covered. I own a medical billing practice and this has worked in many instances. Our (my) State Insurance Board is located in Austin. You need to find out which city yours is located in.
Hope this helps.
It didn't work at all for me. All that works for me is strattera and ritalin
together. but meds have different affects on different peole.
