In my frustration with this disorder, I have spent hours on the internet trying to find opinions, asnwers, new medications, new information, etc.

The other day, I found some things that I'm planning to discuss with my son's neurologist:

#1. That thyroid problems may be the factor into some ADHD. (my mom had thyroids problems and she has some symptoms of ADHD)

#2 That a Lab Test can determinate which neurotransmitters are in short supply. (they are responsable for some brain fuctions)

#3. That B-Complex, Vitamin C, Zinc & Magnesium can also be very helpful.

thanks for sharing that info mlopez - I am about to go to a new ped soon - so I will ask him.  My mother also has thyroid probs and so did my sons paternal grandmother - hmmmmmm!!!!!Just a little note that may help. I learned this from my doctor when I was getting tested for ADHD. Many people, children especially with Thyroid problems often get misdiagnosed as ADHD. She said before anyone is diagnosed they should have a full set of blood tests since there are so many physical ailments(meaning there is an actual proven test for diagnosis) that mimic ADHD behavior. She said a lot of the cases of misdiagnoses in children happens because we assume they are physically healthy. Since ADHD is pretty much determined by viewing behavior many parents rush to the doctor because a teacher told them their kid had ADD. In reality there are 1001 things that could be wrong. Since ADHD can't be identified with a simple blood test, to get a proper diagnoses you first have to rule out all other (scientifically provable) possible illnesses and then you can look at the child's history and behavior patterns.
