Adderall | ADHD Information

My son has just started taking Adderall-I have found a couple of different things in books I have read.  One was that there were no long term effects when being on the meds for a long period of time.  If the child was having a hard time keeping up on weight, taking off the meds, they bounced back.  The other thing I foud was hat there was a potential for substance abuse later on in life-because they are using a stimulant-but I don't agree (and plenty of other books don't either)  I think that has to do with personality, not because they have been taking meds for x amount of time.  Other than these I have not seen anything else as far as long-term damage.  Good luck & let us know if you find anything!

My son has been taking Adderall for some time. I just have to wonder the long term side effects. I have looked and looked online, and go figure there are really no resources. We have taken the necessary precautions as far as his heart etc, (baseline ekg, liver tests etc) to more or less reassure us it is not causing any damage at this point. But I just have to wonder for his future.....

The adderall has worked very well for him. We are fortunate in school as well. Not fighting so many teachers anymore.  (this will be the second year at this school for him) We have been able to put a good program in place for him all around, and he has made so many improvements on his own! I could not be prouder of him at this point. God knows it was a struggle for so long. I can only imagine what it was for him.

All I can say is congratulations and good luck

keep up the good work and the diligence.
